a sequence of characters or words or their combinations inputted by the user in order to retrieve a concordance. Often, the word query is not restricted to the concordance only but can also refer to any type of search or criteria used in connection with any Sketch Engine feature, i.e. Word Sketch, thesaurus, word list etc.
