To compare two preloaded corpora

  • Open the focus corpus and navigate to word list using the left side menu.
  • Check “Keywords” in “Output type”. Choose the target corpus in a drop-down list “Reference (sub)corpus”.
  • Set other fields of the form according to your needs, click “Make Word List”.
  • The list of words most characteristic for the focus corpus (in contrast to the target corpus) will appear.
  • Click any underlined frequency counts to get to the respective part of concordance.
  • Or click “Switch focus and reference (sub)corpus” to get the words most characteristic for the second corpus (in contrast to the first one).

To compare a subcorpus of Brown family to your corpus

  • Open corpus Brown family and navigate to Word List using the left side menu.
  • Choose the desired subcorpus of Brown family in the drop-down list “Subcorpus”.
  • Check “Keywords” in “Output type”. Choose your corpus in the drop-down list “Reference (sub)corpus”.
  • Set other fields of the form according to your needs, click “Make Word List”.
  • The list of words most characteristic for the subcorpus of Brown family (in contrast to your corpus) will appear.
  • Click any underlined frequency counts to get to the respective part of concordance.

To compare your corpus to a subcorpus of Brown family

  • Open your corpus, click the magnifying glass “Open in SkE” and navigate to Word List using the left side menu.
  • Check “Keywords” in “Output type”. Choose “Brown family” in the drop-down list “Reference (sub)corpus”. Then choose the desired subcorpus of Brown family in the drop-down list to the right.
  • Set other fields of the form according to your needs, click “Make Word List”.
  • The list of words most characteristic for your corpus (in contrast to Brown family) will appear.
  • Click any underlined frequency counts to get to the respective part of concordance.

To compare two subcorpora of your corpus

  • Open your corpus, click the magnifying glass “Open in SkE” and navigate to Word List using the left side menu.
  • Select the first subcorpus in the upmost part of the Word List form.
  • Check “Keywords” in “Output type”. Choose your corpus in the drop-down list “Reference (sub)corpus”. Then choose the other subcorpus to compare in the drop-down list to the right.
  • Set other fields of the form according to your needs, click “Make Word List”.
  • The list of words most characteristic for the first subcorpus of your corpus (in contrast to the other subcorpus) will appear.
  • Click any underlined frequency counts to get to the respective part of concordance.
  • Or click “Switch focus and reference (sub)corpus” to get the words most characteristic for the second subcorpus (in contrast to the first one).
